SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Common Sense, Sioux Falls’ original shop for cultural gifts, glass art and vapes, is sponsoring the adult evening festivities at SiouxperCon, Saturday, September 29 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

“Separating the evening, adult-only entertainment from the rest of the family-oriented event was our goal this year. Thanks to Common Sense, we can reach that goal,” Shane Gerlach, director and founder of SiouxperCon, said.

The wrestling event and burlesque show, adult themed comedy and improv shows and SiouxperCon’s first ever Pop Culture Tattoo competition will take place during evening hours and have a separate ticketing system, Gerlach said, to ensure the day time game players, cosplayers, LEGO builders, comic collectors, and all the fandoms attending can spend their time doing the events that mean the most to them. “Our goal is to be welcoming to all,” he said.

SiouxperCon, celebrating its eighth convention in 2023, is a three-day extravaganza that celebrates pop culture, art, film, comic books, cosplay, anime, board games, video games, science fiction and fantasy. “We take special pride in our focus on education and promotion of STEAM and arts education,” Gerlach said, “No matter what forms of popular culture you enjoy, you’re sure to find something to remember for years to come.”

SiouxperCon is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is run entirely by a volunteer staff and board. Local charities, including REACH Literacy, the JY6 Foundation and this year Make-A-Wish of South Dakota & Montana, receive profits from the convention, totaling over $25,000 in recent years. In 2022, some 7,000 people attended the event.

Featured guests this year include actors Sean Gunn from The Gilmore Girls and the Marvel universe and Adrian Paul, Duncan McCloud from Highlander. The Voice of Winnie the Pooh; Jim Cummings. The Puppeteer for the Yoda in “The Empire Strikes Back”, David Barclay along with the Yoda Puppet for photo opportunities, and many more.
